The GDPR's data types

Personal Data: any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified.

Special Category Data:
The GDPR singles out some types of personal data as likely to be more sensitive, and gives them extra protection:

- personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin;
- personal data revealing political opinions;
- personal data revealing religious or philosophical beliefs;
- personal data revealing trade union membership;
- genetic data;
- biometric data (where used for identification purposes);
- data concerning health;
- data concerning a person’s sex life; and
- data concerning a person’s sexual orientation.

SKIP does collect some special category data, for example medical conditions for project, or dietary requirements for events. However, we have extra levels of protection in place for this data.

Criminal Offence Data: SKIP does collect this at a national level, for DBS checks.
