Topics and activities in this course

This course aims to extend and focus on skills and knowledge introduced in the first three Number Confidence modules (for Everyday Life, Budgeting, and Work). However, you do not need to have completed these modules first.

In this resource, you will be given the opportunity to practise your numeracy skills for budgeting in a variety of realistic scenarios. Here are some examples:

  • Reading your payslip to check your net pay is correct.
  • Working out how much of your disposable income you could deposit into savings.
  • Choosing between service providers to lower your household bills.
  • Identifying the best deal when exchanging currency before a holiday.

You can use the workbooks, glossary and useful links in the Resource library to revise different topics, then move on to the activity zone to test out your skills.

Building confidence can sometimes involve managing or overcoming anxieties associated with numbers. The “You can do this” workbook is designed to help you through this and signpost you to additional support.

Use the quiz to find out which areas you need to practise and, when you're ready, have a go at the interactive story: Budget Quest.
