  1. To understand who is going to be a positive influence and how best to involve them.
  2. Read some of the research on how support from family and friends improves outcomes.
  3. Debate the motion: ‘Everybody should be encouraged to use social media as part of their support network’.
  4. Finally, discussion with your study group or mentor about the importance of family and friends and getting comfortable with involving them.

  • Read about being a Trusted Person. Not everybody is going to be a positive influence, so be sure you understand who to encourage.
  • Think about tips you can offer to family and friends on how best to help.
  • Look at suggestions for excluding people who want to help but aren’t helpful.
