Black and Minority Ethnic Network podcasts

Updated Wednesday, 27 August 2025

In this new series of the podcast hosted by Katherine Jegede, we continue to explore the voices and experiences of Black and Minority Ethnic staff and students at The Open University.

This series delves deeper into themes of identity, community, and lived experience - from the vibrant yet challenging realities of being part of the British Black, Asian and minority ethnic LGBTQ+ scene in 1980s and ’90s in London, to the lasting impact of racism on children, and the day-to-day experiences of BME staff within the institution. Through powerful storytelling, honest reflection, and academic insight, the podcast highlights ongoing work and research around race, equity and inclusion at the OU.
