Stephen Cobb
Biography
I am an independent researcher and public-interest technologist who has has worked
for more than four decades at the intersection of digital technology and human
behaviour. I have written several books on cybersecurity and data privacy and have been qualified as a CISSP since 1996. In 2016, I earned an MSc in security and risk
management from the University of Leicester School of Criminology. I co-founded two successful cybersecurity and data privacy companies and was the
2019 recipient of CompTIA’s Tech Champion Award. I have spoken at multiple Virus
Bulletin, DefCon, APWG, and ISC2 security events. I am a UK born, naturalized US citizen now living in
Coventry, England, with my partner Chey Cobb, herself the author of multiple
cybersecurity books. Current interests are in criminology, zemiology, exposomics, cybersecurity, cybercrime, technology ethics, the digital divide, and existential risk,
