Reciprocal altruism

Reciprocal altruism is an explanation for co-operative helping behaviour which argues that the individual doing the helping will benefit, or expects to benefit, from being helped in return (see also reciprocity).

Reciprocity

Reciprocity means, literally, ‘back and forth’. It refers to a type of co-operation where individual A helps individual B because individual B will then be more likely to help individual A in return (see also reciprocal altruism).
