4.1 Finding suitable books

There are organisations that recommend books that might be used in peace education. Some of these are listed in the course Resources and recommendations page of this course. Educators should ensure the books they use are appropriately representative of diversity within the UK. The English Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) produces a regular report, Reflecting Realities, which looks at ethnic representation within UK children’s literature. Each report includes a set of questions to guide considerations for choosing books that reflect the diversity of UK communities.
