4 Summary of Session 3

In this session you have focused on the experience of growing older in a Shared Lives arrangement. This model works very well for Geoff and at the aged of 73 he is content and happy. Some of the elements that make this a good home for Geoff would undoubtedly be problematic for others (for example, the rural lifestyle). Therefore the matching process is critical. But even within Geoff’s very positive situation there are potential challenges ahead. Everyone involved in supporting him needs to be proactively engaging with these issues, and engaging with the relevant services and professionals in a timely way.

In the next session you will learn about how best to support people who are growing older in a Supported Living context.
