Session 6: Bringing the learning together

Introduction

A photograph of a woman making a hot drink in a kitchen.

In this final session of the course you will bring together all of your learning and think about how you can put this into practice. In particular, the activities in this session will encourage you to consider what you can do to support people to live well and age well and will provide some additional tips and resources to help you. Finally, this session will help you to identify some of the wider constraints and challenges that may have an impact on how older people with learning disabilities are supported, and what you can do to address these.

By the end of the session, you should be able to:

  • bring together your learning from across the course, identifying aspects that are particularly relevant for your own practice
  • understand how to support older people with learning disabilities to live and age well
  • feel more confident to hold conversations about planning ahead with people with learning disabilities.
