Session 4: Supported living

Introduction

In this session, you will meet Robin, aged 50. He lives in a house with his two cats, Mitzi and Tinkerbell. Robin receives support to live independently through a ‘supported living’ scheme. Robin receives 1:1 support from his team of support workers during the day.

Robin’s mum Carol lives across the road. Robin keeps in contact with his mum by phone and they see each other most days. Robin’s brother and his family live nearby.

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  • understand how good support can help people to live well as they grow older
  • recognise the potential benefits of person-centred activities on building and maintaining relationships.
