4.1 Finding suitable books

There are organisations that recommend books that might be used in peace education. Some of these are listed in the course Resources and recommendations page [Tip: hold Ctrl and click a link to open it in a new tab. (Hide tip)] of this course. Educators should ensure the books they use are appropriately representative of diversity within the UK. The English Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) produces a regular report, Reflecting Realities, which looks at ethnic representation within UK children’s literature. Each report includes a set of questions to guide considerations for choosing books that reflect the diversity of UK communities.
