To me this is dangerously out of date. It seems like it's adapted from lecture slides from the 90's.
Mention of SHA and MD5 for hashing, stateless firewalls, recommendation to use DES (or multiple rounds). I'm not sure if it even mentions blocking egress traffic (I'll go back and check at some point and update this if possible)
At a fundamental level the course is ok but is in need of a refresh. NAT is everywhere now and practically everything is proxied.
edit; so it does kind of describe a stateful firewall if you very generously interpret the 'circuit level gateway' description. Still suggests hosts in the 'dmz' be allowed unfettered internet access.
