How it might feel to receive an MND diagnosis

Receiving a diagnosis of MND may feel overwhelming, frightening and uncertain. A person may feel shocked, anxious about the future, worried about losing independence, and concerned about the impact on their family and loved ones. They may also experience sadness, anger, denial, or confusion while trying to come to terms with the diagnosis. It is important for care workers to show empathy, listen carefully, provide emotional support, and help the person access appropriate information and services.
