Big data project

Have you worked on any big data projects? If so, what data did you use e.g. transport, health, weather? How did you obtain it? Which of the four defining features - volume, velocity, variety, veracity - were present?

Big Data - Change

Hi,

I have not worked directly with big data, however, in large scale change programmes, the volume of data is a massive issue. Time taken on the veracity of data can also be a big challenge.

I once worked with a spreadsheet that contained close to a million entries. Does it count as big data? It was about legal notices sent to Google from various rightsholders.

Good question Paul. I'm not sure if that qualifies as big data.  I looked up a Wikipedia definition and it states... “Big data ‘size’ is a constantly moving target, as of 2012 ranging from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data.”  But I know definitions do vary. Hopefully someone else here can clarify.

Counting passengers in the shopping center. We're working with a external company.
We began with 6 devices, now it's enlarged till +- 40. Because of corona this tool was also used for the police. There is real-time data (+- 5 min). 

For the moment there is no mix of data because we are struggling to access to correct data.

I've conducted a study applying Machine Learning algorithms to the BELDAM (Belgium Daily Mobility) dataset. The dataset consisted on daily activity sequences (from travel diary), but it only contained +10k samples, so I don't know if it can be considered as big data. The dataset was given to me by my professors.
