Creating an inclusive ehos and culture

I want to share two practice that a certain academic institution does which I think is good practice.

1. The assessment department. The assessment department is usually given the information about needy students. If there are students who have partial visual challenge, i.e. they can see with difficulties, these are assisted. They are assisted during assignments and examination by increasing the font of the letters so they are able to see the letters and words with ease. This is a good practice.

2. Special needs department. Recently, the institution has received braille equipment. Not only the equipment but also a member of staff specialized in braille writing and transcribing has just been recruited. During the first school assemblies students are informed of the resource centre which is available at the institution.

Henderson, in this institution you have mentioned, do all  learners learn together in one class or the children with 'special needs' are segregated and placed in a class alone? The member of staff specialized in braille writing and transcribing, does he or she teach both the braille users and those not in need of braille?

Henderson, the assessment and special needs departments are two critical departments, and I am pleased to hear that this academic institution has utilized these departments and together implemented effective practices and strategies aimed at assisting these children in need but most importantly, the departments provided the necessary assistance during assignments and examinations, as well as the necessary equipment and a staff member trained/specialized in the related field, in order to support and assist the children. Thank you for sharing these two situations, as well as the positive practices implemented by the institution and departments. The institution and the departments collaborated and did an excellent job.
