Creating an Inclusive School

I was fortunate enough to witness in an academic institution where they catered for deaf students in a typical learning environment. Deaf students were allowed to be in the same classroom as the hearing students as long as their was a sign language translator.

The translator served to translate as the teacher was speaking so the students could understand the work. For the most part the system worked unless the translator was ill and unable to attend and they were unable to provide a replacement.
