Many of the negative attitudes we see towards Inclusion and students with special needs comes from lack of education on the subject in general.
Special needs has traditionally been somewhat of a taboo as the gentleman in the video spoke about. This results in persons with special needs being laughed at, hidden away, and families experiencing shame.
Teachers can respond negatively towards inclusion due to the lack of proper training and resources.
I believe every teacher should be properly trained in Special Ed. It should not simply be a one-time course or a specialization at university. If we are to truly have inclusive schools, then teachers should receive proper and ongoing training to meet these needs in their every day classrooms.
Also, there is a great need for more support personnel in the field. Due to numbers in the classroom, and best practice being to meet every child's needs, each classroom/school should be equipped with support personnel.
