Two Features of an Inclusive school that I have had the privilege to be a part, is where teachers tailor their courses to meet the different needs of each child. Teachers also incorporate various methods of learning styles to reach all students. The school is welcoming to Special Educators to assist students in the classroom and their are many special educators as regular staff members. The attitude of staff is progressive towards promoting Inclusion, breaking down communication, Physical, social, financial and attitude barriers through training, inclusion by itself, policy and legal reform, community engagement to bring awareness.
Also the idea of Monitoring Inclusive schools is important. Schools that have adopted the inclusive educational model fully or in part needs further monitoring and evaluation to improve school adaption to students with disabilities and special needs. This can ensure proper periodic training of teachers and administrators, proper changes to physical environment, changes in school culture and ethos towards students and in the end improve students self esteem, motivation towards learning.
