Being a Student Aide two (2) things I will take forward from this course are;
1) I intend to re-analyze my student's abilities; pin point where his short comings are for each activity assigned; focus on bringing forth a plan that will suit his learning abilities to ensure that he is able to participate in the classroom activities more effectively. My student, being a child with disabilities and me, understanding the importance of inclusion, it is necessary to break down tasks even smaller if necessary to facilitate his learning capabilities.
2) Even though the need for inclusion is highlighted in the class that I am in, it is not always practiced sufficiently. I intend to be a voice for my student to ensure inclusion. Where he is being treated like the average student, at times I believe it necessary to provide special accommodations to allow him greater results. Whilst the teacher may not want to change the norm to accommodate his special needs - I have learnt in this course that making adjustments to cater for his individual needs is imperative for building his confidence and promoting better academic outcomes.
