Attitudes towards inclusion

I is true that the environment in which teachers, administrators, and parents come from can and have shaped their attitudes towards inclusion. For example in my area some feel that inclusion will slow down the "normal" children's educational advancement.

Cultural attitudes can also interfere with inclusion goals. I remember  a student with a learning disability. When having a discussion with the parent about intervention strategies the parent mentioned that "an old woman's spirit was sucking out the child's life force". The parent was leaning towards getting mystical help instead.
