1.5 Ethos and Culture

A teacher's attitude and approach towards children play a most vital role in a child's growth and development at school. Once a teacher is not warm, welcoming, positive towards a child or even children, this can hamper a child's learning. Children are very sensitive beings and can feed on negative attitudes which in turn creates a dislike of learning or even a fear for going to school.

If staff do not have a harmonious and collaborative relationship at a school, this can also contribute to a negative ethos and culture at a school.
