Activity 1.6 Professional Development

As part of my professional development training I had the opportunity to train at an inclusive school. I was given the task to plan an activity. This at first was very challenging for me because not only this was my first experience I did not want the children bored nor did I want to leave some children behind.

My first strategy was to get to know the children their needs in learning. My next strategy was to explain my activity as simple as I can step by step. My third strategy was peer support, I paired of the children, those that were stronger in gasping the activity helped the others. The activity turned out to be successful. It was very rewarding as I observed the different skills and attitudes displayed that day. I saw pride, independence ,cooperation, patience, respect and perseverance. I also learnt a lot that day. I rewarded each child with a motivational sticker. What I took from my experience is the importance of knowing a child's needs and peer support.
