My best Professional Development Experience

My best professional development experience was the TESSA the Course by OU of UK on Embedding Learner Centred Education .

Oh, that was my best course ever. I met Kris in Mauritius and she told me about an upcoming MOOC and encouraged me to participate. I did and that has been a game changer in my teaching career.

I had read of learner centred teaching approaches and even 'taught' but having never experienced it, I had not conceptualized it yet our school curriculum was changing to competency based and I needed to help in its interpretation and implementation.

The most notable experience was from the case studies presented in videos and stories which made me experience learner centred teaching. I caught it. I tried it with my students and they enjoyed it. They told me, 'Thank you madam' as i was leaving class. I felt like shouting on roof tops and modeling LCE.I had conceptualized active teaching and learning and felt empowered.

TESSA facilitated me with Small grant and I trained 82 teachers from diverse locations of Kenya and some education administration on LSE using the TESSA free resources. They liked it. I hope they sustained it.

If you have never done it get, access TESSA resources which are completely free online and use them. What was your experience? Perhaps more exciting than mine, you could tell us on this thread.
