Activity 1.7 Monitoring inclusive schools

One feature of an inclusive school that I have seen practiced in the school that I have worked in is policy.

When I first started teaching, there was a particular student who had a non-physical disability.  He would not listen to his teacher, he kicked a trash bin at a point in time. During breaks and lunch he’d run off, where his teacher and sometimes other students, would be searching for him.

His teacher approached administration for help and it was given in a timely manner. This help came in the form of a trained individual who would come in the classroom and work alongside the child, giving the child the necessary support.

As a result, I recognized the student had  less outbursts and exhibited less disruptive behaviour around the school.
