Activity 1.5 Creating an inclusive ethos and culture

Two factors that I think are effective in contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture are:

1) Having a Mission and Vision which supports inclusive ethos and culture and genuinely believing and abiding by such. For example part of our mission and vision highlights " promote the potential of all children" this means each child and not some which is the key to meeting the individual needs of each child regardless of their ability 'not one size fits all'. I can say because of this I was able to get the opportunity to teach children with different learning disabilities such as Autism, Speech delay and Noonan Syndrome which made me gain a lot of experience and was driven to want to learn more to reach their individual needs.

2)Ongoing Teachers Professional Development. Recently, the teachers at my Centre and I have completed a webinar series to support transition to online learning and teaching. One component of the course focus on Effective communication strategies and skills to teach students with learning disabilities.
