Activity 1.2

Two important features of an inclusive school are firstly is the attitude of the teachers.  Once the teachers display that positive attitude towards children who may have special needs this in turn creates a positive ethos at the school.

Understanding the learners with special needs and catering to the learning needs of each child is another feature of an inclusive school. When teachers plan lessons and activities they must remember to cater for all types of learners ensuring that no child is left behind.

Hi Stacy

I strongly support this point you made. Understanding the learners with special needs and catering to the learning needs of each child is another feature of an inclusive school. Therefore, the curriculum is critical in  planning for each individual learner.

Hi Stacy,

These are certainly two importance features of an inclusive school. In my view, positive attitudes are necessary to successfully achieve the best in anything we do. As such, if we do not embrace diversity and value inclusion, we will inevitably fall short in our pursuit to create an inclusive school. Moreover, understanding the individual needs of each child is also a critical factor as you indicated. Without a fair understanding of the needs of each child, we would not be able to appropriately adapt our learning activities, environment and attitudes to facilitate the individual needs of the children in our care.

I look forward to reading more from you.
