Factors contributing to an inclusive ethos and culture

The general attitude of school and other support systems can have an effect on creating a positive ethos and culture within the learning environment.

At my school, the entire staff collaborates together when planning and developing strategies to work with the children in our care, while displaying a commitment to ensuring that the needs of all the children are met. Our environment is set up to be welcoming to both parents and children. We believe when parents are involved in their child's learning and development, it motivates the children and the teacher to reach positive outcomes.

Therefore, two factors that are definitely important are: providing a welcoming environment with an open mind attitude that will allow opportunities for all and of course ensuring that the learning environment is accommodating for inclusive learning.

Building positive relationships between home and school is another factor that plays an important role for creating an inclusive environment. Strong support systems assist in the implementation of goals and objectives, and can determine what works or needs improving for children's holistic development
