Activity 2.7 Positive behaviour management strategies

A strategy to positively manage behaviour, that I have tried or observed in a classroom is establishing a clear set of rules and guidelines which students must adhere to to maintain peace and harmony in the classroom that would create an environment conducive to learning. Students were asked to share their ideas in formulating these guidelines to take ownership of them so they would each understand the importance of complying as non-compliance would result in the hampering of their progress.

Another strategy that works well is rather than having a long plenary session, instruction is normally done with short related activities to keep students stimulated. The lessons may involve individual work, peer work, group work, some speaking and listening and writing. Sometimes students may be encouraged to move around. So varying classroom activities and making the class interactive is helpful.
