I couldn't think of any challenges that can be caused by SBTD however I was able to think of some challenges that prevent effective SBTD.
Challenges -1). A lack of resources to implement ideas that might be shared at TGM's. While it is great to work as a team and collectively discuss ways to make improvements, without the physical resources available (in some special needs cases), these changes sometimes never leave the drawing board. This also create another challenging factor 2) Demotivation - members of staff can feel demotivated if they aren't able to see any of their ideas take root and/or bear fruit. Leading to teachers sometimes feeling like collaborative meetings are time consuming and pointless and thus be less inclined to upkeep it.
Opportunities - 1) Do you know the old saying "two heads are better than one"? The biggest opportunity that SBTD brings is that of getting to share ideas in a collaborative space. As stated in the the video clipping by the District Educational Standards Officer (DESO) form Chisamba in Zambia, teachers, when isolated, can sometimes skip over content they find difficult to understand or difficult to teach. Working collaboratively can bring new ideas and approaches to teachers who need support. Speaking collectively with peers also builds a teachers social emotional well being and keeps their level of motivation high.
