Bringing It All Together

One things I plan to take forward from this course into my practice is creating an inclusive ethos in my Centres. Working with the staff to ensure that we understand our purpose in creating an inclusive classroom for ALL and paying close attention to our attitudes on subject matter. We will strive to create an environment that is welcoming to everyone that screams inclusiveness when you walk into any space of the Centre.

The other is working with staff and parents/ guardians in monitoring children's progress. By working together, documenting data of children's progress and sharing information among ourselves, we can ensure we reach the individual needs of ALL the children in our care, creating a blossoming inclusive environment.

"Bring it all together "as the statement highlights is a fitting  term to describe all that I have learn throughout this course.  Each child has the right to an education regardless of his or her disability.

Firstly, understanding what is the real meaning of inclusive education has made me reflect on my teaching practice and how can I create an inclusive environment. One thing that stood out to me is  the ethos and culture that a school should poses. The ethos of a school is determine by the values and attitude of all persons who work at the school.  It is the atmosphere by children and, parents and staff. It is said that inclusive ethos and culture is visible in the actions of individual teachers. Its the role everyone plays in insuring that resources are available for different learning styles. Its the support structure, it the leadership and it is the flexible approaches to remove physical barriers in a school to assist children in the classroom.

Professional development to  is another point that stood out to meet.  Its made me reflect on how important it is to attend professional development as an educate it helps you improve your skills especially with teaching in an inclusive classroom. It allow you to become more effective in the delivery of your teaching especially when faced with challenging behaviour. For instance plan activities, monitor children progress and create a support structure that promotes inclusion.
