School-based teacher development is very important for both the teacher and students. At our school each week the staff reflects on how successful the activities were implemented. Teachers discuss how beneficial the activities were to the students, what could have been done better and what resources can be created. This simple reflection at the end of each week contributes to teachers gaining knowledge from peers, gaining knowledge about students and teaching strategies which will be implemented for higher student achievement. One challenge that this school-based teacher development can cause is performance pressure from school administrators.
