4.10 - Bringing it all together

This course has been very interesting and reinforces many of the things I learnt in Teachers' Training College about inclusion.  I sincerely believe that the future of education lies in inclusivity. Students will benefit from such a transformation of the education system and it will promote growth and development of the nation as well. No longer will it be about "my school, your school' but about wholistic development of the education system for the benefit of all.

Going forward, two things that I will take into my practice are?

  1. Greater involvement of parents in the school environment.  I can do this by getting parents involved through storytelling, craft, sporting activities and training, cultural activities and positive feedback through parent/teacher conferences
  2. Adapting my classroom to accommodate learning styles and students with disabilities. I will do this through group work, rearranging of furniture, peer tutoring, placing students with disabilities at the front (where necessary) and ensuring that students are included in play time through a "play time buddy system."
