This course has helped me to become better prepared by giving me the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to deal with the learning challenges of my children and to meet their individual needs. As well as to improve my overall practice that will help me to be better able to promote diversity in my classroom and my school.

If we are to celebrate and value inclusion in the wider community, the classrooms of today have to become the models for our future. Our teachers must be prepared to set the example of acceptance along with valuing each and every child in our classrooms. As teachers we have to be able to see the child first, not the disability. 

Two (2) things I will take with me from this course:

1. Key to success - You have to have a willingness to make it work, if you don't want to do it you will never succeed. You must have a willingness that whatever you want to do it can and will be done. It is possible and where there is a will there will always be a way. You just have to find a way to make it work. Therefore, a positive attitude is basically the key factor to be successful at anything you set your mind to do.

2. "Simply enrolling children with special education needs or disabilities in mainstream schools does not make it an inclusive school." Being able to establish a strong ethos and culture in a school is very important to be able to achieve an inclusive education. It is the atmosphere that is experienced by children, parents and staff, it is what the school "feels" like. It is about identifying and removing barriers to children's learning, ensuring that all learners can access and reach their fullest potential in an environment where they are supported and valued. This can be achieved by teachers, other staff, administrators and other stakeholders working together to make the ethos and culture of a school inclusive.
