Activity 4.10

The course provided useful information for persons that work in the school environment. The course permitted me to note the importance of support staff to inclusive education. As a school social worker in the school environment, I was able to see how I fit in. I understood the ways in which families, stakeholder, and communities can come together.

In the school setting, I can provide support by making linkages to NGO's.  NGO's representing persons who are differently-abled can provide a community for families. They can network to find safe spaces to cope with the experiences that come with having a child with a disability in a region that is now becoming inclusive.

In the course, I  was able to recognize the importance of the school's ethos and culture in inclusive education. I think my level of engagement would change as I interact with parents and teachers. I would provide deeper explanations regarding the school's effort to create an inclusive environment. Therefore, when keeping sessions will parents one of the areas I would explore is inclusivity, school and community.
