What other strategies could the teacher use to ensure Luis is able to remember his tasks in the lesson? How could peer support be used?
If taking some extra time to explain to Luis his work is not working, then other solutions can be considered such as:
1. Teach Luis to keep a simple record of his ‘To Do’ tasks. For each one he completes he can be rewarded with a sticker or points. This will help to remember, guide him in his tasks and motivate him to stay on task.
2. Educate his classmates to be of assistance. Create a buddy system where students can take turns in lending assistance in all aspects of school life – especially academical and social. This in turn will make him feel a sense of belonging, create friendships and you as a teacher would have taught peers how to engage in meaningful interactions.
