2:7 Planning for Individual Needs

An Individual Learning Plan is important since both teachers and parents can work together and set goals to support the child's learning and development.

In David's case or other children, they can  be seated in the front row with a friend. If they are able to hear, their friend can help explain the task to them. The teacher can also speak slowly to allow the child to understand what is being said.

The teacher can use pictures and gestures to explain the lesson.

In the school where I work, we have a developmental checklist for each age group, which is used to assess the Physical, Language, Cognitive, Social and Emotional development of each child. This is also used to plan strategies to help improve each child individually.
