Alongside the Goda Saramba steps, the dancers learn 12 basic hand positions called the Hastha Dolaha.

These Hastha positions are derived from four main categories known as Mudra Hathara. They are veneration of the Buddha and Gods, animals, inanimate objects - such as Cats eye gem stone - and birds.
