Find out more about The Open University's courses and qualifications
As you think about where your learning will take you next, we wanted to let you know about some possible routes into studying an Open University qualification.
Our Access Modules
An Access module is a great place to start if you want a gentle introduction to Open University study. Designed specifically for OU students, it can also help you to find out more about your interests and where you want your learning to take you.
Please watch this short animation to find out about our Access Modules.
There are four Access modules to choose from, and they start each February, May, and October. You might even qualify for a free place.
Designed to inspire you, you’ll explore a range of broadly related subjects within one module. That means you’ll have the time and space to discover where your natural interests lie before settling on your ultimate qualification goal.
We’re different to other universities because we’re open to people based on their potential rather than their prior qualifications. Most of our courses have no formal entry requirements and our students come from a diverse range of educational backgrounds. So, we offer a choice of starting points depending on how confident you are in your study skills.
Making your learning count
YXM130 is our flexible OU level 1 module, which allows you to count previous or current study from OpenLearn, or other types of previous learning towards OU qualifications.
Please watch this short animation to find out about YXM130.
Through a series of assessment tasks, you will explore what you have learned already whilst developing the skills you need to be a successful student.
The blend of subjects that you choose to cover is up to you, making this learning experience an entirely personal one.
Your tutor will help you plan your study and identify what you are hoping to achieve through this module and your future study plans.
