Many years ago, somebody saying to me, oh, where are you from? And I was like, well, I was born in Scotland. I'm from Scotland. And as he went off into the building, he said, oh, you speak English really well. And I was like, oh, for God's sake.

Katherine talks to Mel Green about her research on race, racism and its impact on children.

We need to remember Stuart Hall's theory of what race is. It is a floating signifier and it's something that is constructed, reconstructed and shifted according to political, historical and social contexts.
