Week 1: Hallo!

Introduction

At the beginning of this week we’d like to say hello and goodbye in German. The first phrases you might use when meeting a German speaker.

Apart from greetings, we’ll also introduce some phrases to say where someone comes from, looking at Germany, Austria and Switzerland and some regional differences. Can you think of any famous German speakers (past or present)? Would you know which German speaking country they come from?

Finally, we’ll start counting the numbers 1-10. The numbers are a great way to become familiar with some basic rules of German pronunciation.
