4 Summary of Session 5

In this session, you have focused on Susie and her experience of growing older in a care home with nursing. This model of support works well for Susie. The holistic approach to nursing care provided in the care home ensures that Susie’s needs are met. Through a positive relationship with Susie and her family staff continue to review to check they are supporting Susie in the way she wants and needs to be supported now and in the future.

In the final session, you will have an opportunity to explore the ‘Planning Ahead cards’ and review what you have discovered about supporting older people with learning disabilities.
