4 Summary of Session 6
The Quilt of Excellence was designed to be a memorable resource for you to draw upon as you reflect on the support you provide to older people with learning disabilities. It should prompt you to consider how someone can be supported to live well and age well, while reflecting critically on the values and ways of working that underpin excellent care. It is important to acknowledge that sometimes the barriers to providing excellent support may be beyond your control. But no matter how complex the situation, there are always things that practitioners can do to make a positive difference. We hope that this course has provided you with some tips and resources that enable you to review your practice and ask yourself what you can do to support people to lead their best lives as they grow older.
