I am a PhD student at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. KIT has an RDM Policy containing “Guidelines for Responsible and Sustainable Research Data Management at KIT”:
https://www.rdm.kit.edu/downloads/KIT-RDM-Policy.pdf
It is only one page and covers 5 major points, i.e. definition of RDM, responsibilities of individual researchers and institutes in RDM, the role of the institution KIT in RDM with particular focus on providing adequate infrastructure, and support of free access.
In my opinion, the policy is very general and non-specific and thus not so helpful for concrete application. However, there is a service team at the university, where one can get lots of information, further support, and even attend introductory workshops on this topic.
Like Marie I have found that the policy for my institute is quite general. It was not easy to find on the server either! The research data policy is also somewhat embedded in the overall data and archive management policy. There is a suggestion that each research team needs to find a suitable way to ensure data is appropriately handled which I guess is sensible as the research carried out here takes a huge variety of forms. However I am not aware that my team actually has a policy of its own in conjunction with this overarching guidance!
In my case, I was not able to find the RDP of my research institute. As far as I know, they have adapted the existing research data request procedures to be aligned with the General Data Protection Regulation, but the RDP is not available in our website. Only the privacy policy is explained in the website.
