A Shattered Future

Receiving an MND diagnosis would likely feel like a total loss of control. It is the weight of knowing your mind will remain sharp while your body slowly disconnects.

Key feelings would include:

Initial Numbness: A sense of disbelief that life has shifted so permanently in a single conversation.

Anticipatory Grief: Mourning the loss of future milestones and physical independence before they are even gone.

Isolation: The heavy realization that while others can support you, you alone must inhabit a failing body.

Fear of Dependence: Anxiety over the inevitable transition from caregiver to being cared for.
