Language has been a standing barrier to learning for most of non English speaking learners. Using a local or learners native language will indeed help curb the ever-standing obstacle to comprehension of concepts. I was taught at basic level using my native language. Although using native language will in other hand affect the learners reading,  speaking and writing skills,  but it will to some extent help them learn contents better.
