Acitivity 2.1 Eduction Policy

There are many education policies in Malawi. In fact, after transition from one political party state to pluralism in 1994, there were a lot of new developments related to education.

Malawi as a country embraced education policies such as National Education policy, the  Education for All policy - this policy made it possible that all children of school age must go to school. It seemed the nation did not prepare much for this development. A number of schools had no enough teachers, schools were at distant from each other nad resources such as learners' and teachers books were not adequate. Another policy is the School Uniform policy, thus no child should be sent back home for not wearing school uniform, just mention but a few.

There are efforts to make sure the system is inclusive like the School Uniform policy about tries to include all children whose parents can not afford to buy school uniform to be in the classroom. The number of schools are being increased so long distances should not be a barrier to learners to access school.

The impact is minimal because because not many of the them are adequately monitored and weighed to find out if goals are being met. I would love to see government sensitize teachers, parents and all other stakeholders on a number of education policies it has so that implementation is made easier.
