There are several times I have felt excluded, below are some of that I reflected on :
1. As a primary school child, I wasn't allowed to participate on a football game became I was asthmatic, the same happened again as an adult, I wasn't allowed to start a hockey game because I was asthmatic.
2. When I was in grade 6 ,which we called Standard 6 and I lost a parent, most pupils and some teachers kept saying that I lost a parent. Even though this was a true reality, when they kept saying it I felt that I was associated with my challenge at the moment.
3. Age/work experience- As an Intern ,most colleagues would attend meetings every morning but because I was new and an Intern,I didn't feel like a part of the team.
4. Because of my complexion, most children would refer to me by my complexion, as an adult it happened again at a board meeting where one member referred to me using the colour of my skin as opposed to my name which was known to all.
5.Language barrier- I have felt excluded when people speak in their mother tongue while in the office and in the middle of a discussion which we were all having.
6. Religion -I have felt excluded when someone referred to me as not being a born again believer...
7. Intellectual level- I have felt excluded when in primary school ,where we were arranged to seat according to our positions in class. Number 1 would seat with number 2 ,3 with 4 etc.
