My reaction to the Wave model intervention are as follow;
Since it is my first year at our Inclusive Unit for our Ministry of Education and Training this Wave model is friendly ,simple to follow ,easy to understand .This Wave model indicates that Inclusive practises is at three different theoretical levels (i.e Wave 1,Wave 2 and Wave 3).This Wave model reminds us that ALL teachers not only Specialist teachers ( i.e Special Need Teachers) offers ways to us teachers to understand what we can do to INCLUDE all teachers. This Wave model also help us to rethink about our Inclusive practises we are already carrying out or we need to do right away to include all children in the learning process in the classroom. This Wave model clearly indicates and reminds us it is the responsibility of everyone not just the teachers with Specialist training.
Furthermore all these three different theoretical levels or Waves have to work together. We want the children to feel included and enjoy their learning in the classroom no matter what their different needs are. It also reminds us if we do have children with learning disability like Blindness or language disorder it is vital to include Wave 3.This Wave model supports all teachers to have a positive mind set to "Include" all children even more it supports us to demonstrate inclusive practises in our teaching practise at all times using the engagement of all three theoretical levels or Waves at all times.
