Challenges presented in LCE

In my context,  the greatest challenge has been large classes and crowded conditions which sometimes makes it difficult to fully engage learners actively in the lesson.

The other challenges that I have seen which are not mentioned in LCE are of the parents who hide the children who are disabled from the community.  This will cause the child to be excluded from learning with other children.

Also parents who have a child who is disabled may receive less attention compared to the child who is able bodied in the same family.  This causes labeling syndrome to be experienced by a disabled child.

Yes, Matthew, I had known a single parent who happens to be a father, who had allowed his child not to get the knowledge and be friends with his peers while growing up. His son is disabled and cannot do anything for himself. This young man is now in his mid forties. I think the father felt inferior of others as he himself could not read.

challenges of LCE

The biggest challenge comes with inclusion that is if the class has both children with disabilities and the teacher is inly one. This will require a teacher to prepare adequately and pay more attention to the children who are challenged and this makes the of a teacher to be very hard and if not careful other children may be left un attended.

Cathrine, this is true as if not careful, the children who can managed and those that need help will lose out on tasks daily. These classrooms need more than one facilitator to manage the children.
