Act. 3.1 What doea active teaching look like?

My suggestion on these teacher behaviors:

7. Teacher dictate from the textbook. It depends on what activity the    teacher is teaching. The the other way to make learners active is  to involve them in the reading. Tell them, you will ask anybody to read from the book randomly. This would make every learner to be alert in case he/ she is chosen to read.

8. Learners feel afraid to give the wrong answer or make a mistake: I think the teacher has to set an atmosphere mutual respect in the classroom from the start of the school year. The teacher has to inform learners no one knows everything. Again the teacher should let learners know that everyone makes mistake and it is normal.

Active learning is teacher centered kind of learning in which the teacher barely ask the student to make contribution during learning periods. The friendly learning atmosphere tend to be absent and so special consideration is given to weak students.

What active learning looks like

Good suggestions Ngwira. When a teacher shows learners that their responses whether right or wrong are valued contributions then fear will not be an issue any more. Where there is no fear learning is enhanced.
